- Reflect on how your personal learning network has changed and grown during the course of this workshop. Discuss your plans for how you plan to continue to grow your learning network and how you hope to contribute to the professional learning of your administrative colleagues.
My PLN has grown by expanding the venues and options that I can communicate with students, teachers, community, and stakeholders. I plan to allow students to use blogging for discussions and podcasting to demonstrate their learning. I also think it will be neat for students to use podcasting to create and share announcements like morning announcements. These could easily be emailed to other students to view on computers or shared over the intercom. I also plan to use a social networking site like Twitter on our school website for announcements. This would be an easy way to have a news feed for parents and the community with information about updates and events going on in the school. I also think using something like Instagram will be a great way to share events from the classroom with parents and students. It will be a great way to share pictures and videos.
I plan to share the information I've learned with colleagues by providing a presentation with the tools I have learned about via this class. I will possibly create a podcast or blog along with a PowerPoint to assist in teaching this to the other teachers and administrators in my school system. I will encourage them to explore using these options in the classroom and as an administrator to share information and demonstrate students' learning.

Elisha, I agree these tools will be valuable in the classroom. The idea of the podcast being used for the the annoucements is a great idea. It could also be put on a blog for parents and students who may be absent to hear. The uses are endless. Great action plan also. Good luck with the implementation.
ReplyDeleteWould love to hear the specific details (who/what/where/when) of the professional development planned for teachers. I would like to provide similar training to our teachers, but coordinating the training without the expense of substitutes is always a concern for us. Maybe I can borrow some of your ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteElisha, great idea to have the students use podcasting to do morning announcements. I believe it will help develop a sense of community & students will learn so much from the hands-on experience.
